Lisa –
These are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned! They work well with any weight sock, are very waterproof, and keep my feet toasty and dry all day in the woods..even in the pouring rain. I do wear heel supports with all my shoes to prevent a recurrence of plantar fasciitis. My foot width is close to a C and these boots provided great comfort.

These have been my go-to boots for years now. These boots did it all!Apparently, Keen must have changed manufacturers because they are now more cheaply made and are considerably smaller sized. I’ve been size 10, and still am, for years now. My toes are crammed against the end of the toe box of these boots and the soles/heels are not as cushioned as previous pairs of the same model. I’m VERY disappointed in Keen. Hopefully, they get this resolved soon.

I’m a 7.5-8, and the 8 felt very snug. Had to send it back for a half size up.

I started wearing Keen Targhee II about 6 years ago. They are now just about the only footwear that don’t make my feet ache by the end of the day. These are comfortable right out of the box and get better with each wear. It takes a few wears for me to get the laces right especially the heel strap adjustment. I used to suffer with plantar faciitis a few times a year and the Keen Targhee has been a God send. I really appreciate the thick soles to protect my feet from the ever present rocks. The cushion and support are perfect for me. I wear these in all conditions including snow and they stand up to the demands. I have tried the new Targhee III, but don’t like them as well – the soles aren’t as thick particularly in the heel where I need it.

The good: I’ve been wearing these boots and other Keens daily for about 15 years now, swapping out for a new pair every few years. I farm all day, I hike, I travel, I march. The boots keep up and keep my feet and back well aligned and solid. They are supportive, comfortable, and do what I need. I usually re-spray with waterproofer once a year, and add extra Superfeet insoles to increase arch support (I have very high arches and am on my feet all day). Keens are generally terrific.
The not so good: Usually a pair will last me at least three years and make it to at least two continents before they’re getting too worn to carry on. My current pair is about a year and a half old and is falling apart. There’s a huge rip between the foot cavity and the bed that water just pours in. The soles have begun deteriorating, and the seams seem to be rotting. I’ve seen this happen before, but usually not til 4 years of really hard wear. I don’t know if they’ve changed manufacturers or materials or what, but the quality is not what it was. I hope they get it back on track. They’re still great boots, but they don’t last like they did.

Unfortunately I’m returning these. I bought a 10.5 and 11 to see what worked best. I’m normally a 10, and in running shoes a 10.5. The 10.5 felt almost too short, and I was swimming in the 11. They both made my toes fall asleep. I really hoped these would work, but they just aren’t going to. Thanks to Zappos for such an easy return process. I’ve ordered a couple other pairs to try.

I am looking for a hiking shoe and I liked the Keen because the foot bed was shaped really well for me, and it has a nice wide toe box, which I love since I have wide feet and a small bunion. However, I also need a lot of cushion under the ball of my food, and the Keen did not have as much as I would like, so I have to return. I usually wear Hokas, so I am spoiled for cushion, but the Hoka hiking shoes are not always wide enough for me. If I could just blend the Keen with the Hoka I’d have the perfect shoe. Also try the Altra if you have very wide feet, and if your feet are pretty normal in width, Sportiva are amazing.

Didn’t have any complaints until I noticed a 2 inch ripped seam after wearing it hiking a few days across country. A damper to the rest of the trip, to say the least. Will return and expect a full refund.

I just bought my third pair, and they are clearly different from the previous model. Keen obviously changed factories as the old boots (up to 2017) were produced in Vietnam and the newer ones are produced in Thailand. The look is slightly different, but that doesn’t matter much to me. However, they are also built differently: The sole is not as cushiony as before, and the heel is not as deep as before. The boot seems to be of lighter weight, and most significantly, they run about a half size smaller than the old model. At first I wasn’t sure I could wear this boot as I have chronic tendonitis in my feet, and I need a well cushioned boot to walk in. But after sizing up and adding Superfeet insoles the boots seem to be ok. Not as great as the previous model, but good enough.

Love these little guys. I was confused by both the other reviews and Zappos, as they both suggested ordering way bigger than normal. which you may have already noticed. I have wide feet that need a roomy toe box, so I followed the pack and ordered a 9.5. In other shoes I take a 9, and in other Keens I take an 8.
The 9.5 pair arrived and felt okay, but there was a lot of real estate between the end of my toes and the end of my shoes. I ordered a 9.0 to compare, and they were solid. Beautiful fit, and I have old ballerina feet with arches like the lower case letter ‘n’. I can confirm comfort on a day of walking through the woods on trails and through the town on concrete.
I’d order a couple of pair straight off and see what fits you best. Zappos is great about returns and speedy with the refund on the looser pair.

These boots were very comfortable and definitely waterproof. However I have very weak ankles and they did not provide any ankle support. I walk my dogs every day on hilly and very rocky property and I was afraid that I was going to twist my ankle. Other than that, they are great boots and I will still wear them when I am not on rocky ground. I did order a half size up and they fit well. Also they were wide enough for me. I usually have to order a wide or extra wide, but these are great for width.

Theses are the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever worn. This my third pair because after a hundred miles or so, they do wear out – boot holds up well but the sole wears down.
Kathy –
I usually wear an 8 in everything but ordered an 8.5 based on reviews. So glad I did – they PERFECTLY! I wore them the first day to a muddy outdoor festival, walked around about 5-6 hours and never one complaint from my feet 🙂 LOVE these boots!!! Love the brown and navy combo as well. Yay Keen!

Very stiff and uncomfortable; don’t like the way they gouge into my interior ankle bones.

Boot is very comfortable. It does run a full size small but the width is great for wide feet. Waterproof and warm. Good cold weather hiker.

I wore these shoes straight out of the box on a 5 1/2 mile hike and they were AWESOME! No break in period, no blisters, and felt so good on my high arch. I ordered a half size up since I knew I would be wearing these with thick socks. Couldn’t be happier!

I have a sensitive heels and a bunion so am very fussy about my footwear. These boots are actually very comfortable, allowing my toes to have adequate room (usually I have to purchase a wide- so was delighted with this) but also supporting my heel without digging or rubbing. The arch support could be a little better but I am overall very happy and comfortable.

I replaced these new Targhee II boots. I had the old version almost 10 years old. These are my favorite hiking boots because they are light weight and super comfortable. And they’ve lasted me so long! Great stability & support. My favorite holy grail hiking boots! I have wide feet, mild bunions and lower arches for reference.
Carolyn –
This is my third pair of these boots. I really like how they fit and the support they give. I do use orthopedic insoles in them as I have plantar fasciitis, and the insoles fit well. I have worn these boots in our adventures to New Zealand, England, and Scotland, and they let me walk all day without being tired. They are a little heavy, but I am used to that after all these years of wearing this style.

Fabulous hiking shoe! I am a wide footed, size 8 and experienced hiker. This shoe will never jam your big tow and the grip is life saving! Cannot recommend this enough. Wish they had more updated colors…….not everyone wants the same brown or dark green hiking shoe.

Based on the product info and other reviews that said these run small, I bought two sizes, 10 (which I normally wear) and 10.5. The 10 fit perfectly, so IMO, they’re true to size. I’m glad, since both sizes were available in very limited colors, so I ended up with a different color in each size, and luckily the one that fit is also the color I like better.

these seem sturdy and well made. I loved the colors (goat/crown blue). I’m normally a 6.5. The size 6.5 was too short, toes bumped the front. Tried a 7 and my foot moved around too much inside the shoe.
I have a wide forefoot and narrow heels. The footbed was very comfortable, but there was way too much heel slippage.

I usually buy a 9 in other shoes, but in these KEENS, I like an 8.5 (I’m sized between). This is because I like the way my toes don’t feel smashed, due to the great toe box width, and yet the snug fit holds my heel and arch with great support, so if I’m standing on a steep, rocky hill, I’ve got great grip.
I think this is my third pair of Targhees! I like versions 1 and 2, but didn’t like the feel of version 3.

Love these! I am a teacher and on my feet all day. I ordered another pair! I wear 9.5 ordered size 10. They fit perfectly!
